CRYOTRUCKS® - FOR A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT
REFRIGERATED TRUCKS >3.5T -
THE POLLUTERS ON EU ROADS
Co2 emissions caused by conventional diesel cooling in 2019:
-
- In Switzerland:
200,000 tonnes of Co2 - In the EU, for example:
10 million tons of Co2
- In Switzerland:
Stock of refrigerated vehicles >3.5:
- In Switzerland:
10,000 refrigerated vehicles - In the EU:
500'000 refrigerated vehicles
Newly registered
refrigerated vehicles in 2019 >3.5t:
- Switzerland: 500
- Italy: 4'000
- France: 6'000
- Germany: 8'000
- Rest of EU incl. GB: 26'000
Assumption for calculating consumption per refrigerated vehicle:
2000 hours in operation per year
3 litres per hour = 6000 litres of diesel per year
20 tonnes of Co2 emissions per refrigerated vehicle per year
The contribution to
the environment
Switching to zero-emission refrigeration systems would greatly reduce the damage to the environment and health. All countries that operate refrigerated vehicles in the EU have sufficient spare production capacity for liquid nitrogen to operate emission-free refrigerated vehicles. Converting current diesel refrigeration systems to nitrogen-fuelled refrigerated vehicles would save 3 billion litres of diesel per year across Europe.
